Water! We put detergent in it, (whites in one load and colors in another). It's something you mop up and squeeze
down the drain when baby splashes it out of the tub. It's two parts hydrogen and one part oxygen. We drink it. It's just water. Using it to make tea helps. But run it through pipes and nozzles and through granite or metal and the water comes out as magic. It becomes a fountain. Water of a fountain is a constantly moving sculpture that changes with the wind as plumes of spray drift off and disappear. With the sun Just right it makes rainbows or stark silhouettes. In Winter the fluid sculpture becomes solid sculpture.
The characteristics of a fountain remain the same, yet keep changing.

On hot days kids play in them. Adults move to the downwind side to be enveloped in their spray. Cities brag about them. What if your eye could see the fountain at a 2000th of a second? In a photograph you can. In a photograph you can see
a fountain in a way you never imagined in the fourth dimension of time.
